I got this dress from Kohls (it’s a great deal, only $24!) and off the rack it looked lovely. I put it on at home and I swear it looks like a night gown. I felt like a ghost! A large, white cow ghost (lol). If you have curves, dresses like these don’t flatter your body…UNLESS you pair it with a wide belt! What a Godsend this was. Belts help add shape and make you appear slimmer. The trick is to put it a couple inches below the bust or right above your belly button. The dark brown belt I had perfectly matched my dark brown boots and hair, which just tied this look together.
In California, the weather can be unpredictable. Some days it’s sunny, others its cold, and some days it spontaneously starts raining cats and dogs! When it’s not pouring, it’s fun to take advantage of the beautiful weather and wear dresses! It can get cold, so I usually pair dresses with a warm camisole plus shorts underneath. I also make sure I wear water resistant shoes and socks. Happy feet = happy Janine.
It’s funny, I remember when moving to NorCal I was so worried about how cold it was going to be. I packed all my winter clothes; it almost looked like I was packing for the snow! My friends once called me an Eskimo. After getting used to Cali’s temperamental weather, I realized that dresses can be worn pretty much all year round if you accessorize right. Accessories can play a large role in your overall look. Dresses like these can be scary alone, I’m sure you don’t want to look like a large white cow ghost either, right? Don’t fear! Just find the perfect wide expandable belt and you’re good to go! Stay warm and beautiful!
